You may have heard that from September 2014 the Government is introducing Universal Free School Meals for all infant aged pupils. We will be employing a new catering company who are working hard to plan menus that will suit all tastes. We are currently liaising with them about offering a Halal option for our Muslim children and I will let you know when a decision is made on this. School lunches will offer a meat or fish option, a vegetarian option, salad or jacket potatoes alongside fresh bread each day. We are looking forward to the new start and a fantastic new menu!

The school's preference would be that all infant aged children take up the option of the Universal Free School meal for the Autumn term.

Nothing changes for pupils in Year 3, 4, 5 & 6, except that the price will be £2 per meal from September 2014 - they may choose from school dinners or packed lunches. We ask that families work with us to launch this new venture.

We will assess the situation at October half term and will ask for your feedback on whether this has worked well for you.

The school will also still need to know if your family is entitled to free school meals and milk as we fill in a return to the Government that triggers funding for our school called Pupil Premium - please keep us informed of your circumstances - all information is completely confidential.

Thank you to all parents for your assistance with this. I feel sure it will help us with our aim to achieve healthy eating choices being made by all our children.
